Lymph node involvement and the surgical treatment of thymic epithelial and neuroendocrine carcinoma.

CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective, single center analysis demonstrates a high rate of lymph node metastasis in resectable thymic neuroendocrine tumors or carcinomas. Positive lymph nodes are associated with inferior outcome. Prospective studies are warranted to explore whether this can be improved by systematic lymphadenectomy and adjuvant therapies. Nevertheless, lymphadenectomy provides optimal staging and should be a routine part of surgery in patients with thymic malignancies. PMID: 30721691 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Malignant chondroid syringoma (MCS; malignant mixed tumour) is a rare neoplasm typically arising on the extremities and trunk. We are report 2 unique cases of MCS, one occurring on the scalp of a 78-year-old man and the other on the trunk of a 72-year-old woman. CONCLUSION: The RCCtpcc is usually a low grade and stage subtype of epithelial RCC. It predominates in the sixth decade of life, although cases have already been described in children and young adults. It has a typical immunohistochemical pattern with positive CK7, vimentine, VT and smooth muscle antigen, and negative CD10. They usually have a low malignant potential. Werner syndrome (WS) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by physical signs and symptoms, including premature aging and scleroderma-like skin changes. The gene responsible for WS is the WRN gene. A significant proportion of WS-related malignant tumours are non-epithelial types, and the incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is rare. A case of oral SCC of the lower alveolus and gingiva arising in a 63-year-old woman with WS is reported here. Biopsy confirmed moderately differentiated SCC.
