Making David Attenborough proud

UNISON’s very own holiday resort is taking the lead and going green by taking massive steps and reducing its plastic consumption. In news that would hearten Sir David Attenborough himself, the resort in beautiful Croyde, north Devon, has started the second year of a program of initiatives to help protect the environment. Green measure taken so far include replacing soft drinks in single use plastic bottles, replacing plastic straws and removing plastic carrier bags from the shop. The resort is also sponsoring a beach clean. UNISON Croyde Bay green co-ordinator Dean Parish said: “Last year was a fantastic step in the right direction for UNISON Croyde Bay. We have eliminated large amounts of unnecessary plastic waste from the resort, making sure it is replaced with environmentally-friendly alternatives. “In 2019, we will take further steps not only to reduce the amount of plastic available, but we’ll work more with our suppliers to try and decrease the amount of non-recyclabe waste that enters the resort in the first place.” Find out more about UNISON Living Find out more about UNISON’s Croyde Bay holiday resort UNISON owned and operated Croyde Bay Resort, in North Devon, is currently doubling the member discount up to a massive 30% off all accommodation – applies to bookings and stays between 1 March and 1 December 2019.
