Assessment of prostate cancer prognostic Gleason grade group using zonal-specific features extracted from biparametric MRI using a KNN classifier.

CONCLUSION: This study showed promising results with reasonable AUC values for classification of all GG indicating that zonal-specific imaging features from DWI and T2W MRI can be used to differentiate between PCa lesions of various aggressiveness. PMID: 30712281 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We present a case of a 79 year old patient with a medical history of unilateral nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy due to a pT3aN0 (Gleason score 7) prostate carcinoma. Because of slightly elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA) level (0.35ng/dL), a fluorine-18-prostate specific membrane antigen (18F-PSMA)-1007 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan was performed, showing no signs of malignant recurrence. However, a moderately PSMA-avid nodular lesion was observed in the left occipital region with homogeneous contrast enhancement, suggestive for a meningioma, which was confirmed on magnetic resona...

We report a known case of severe achalasia that appeared on 68Ga–prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT. The patient was a known case of high-grade transitional cell carcinoma and suspicious diagnosis of prostate cancer referred for 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT. 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT showed linear increased activity in the esophageal wall as well as a distended esophagus.

CONCLUSIONS: Developmentally reprogrammed PCa cell models recapitulate features of clinically-advanced prostate tumors including downregulated Rb1/p53 and overexpression of Sox2 with Sox9. Sox9 is a marker of a transitional state that identifies PCa cells under the stress of therapeutic assault and facilitates progression to therapy resistance. Its expression may index the relative activity of the NF-κB pathway. PMID: 31919137 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsmpMRI detected the majority of high-grade and large cancers, but had low sensitivity in the PZ, posterior, and apex and base of the gland. The high prevalence of low-volume, low-Gleason score index tumors, as well as satellite tumors in those areas, accounted for the difference.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: We analyzed a total of 589 lesions scored as PI-RADS 3 or 4 obtained from 434 men w...

Abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate the impact of incidental prostate cancer (IPCa), which was diagnosed by holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), on long-term oncological and functional outcomes. A total of 482 patients who underwent HoLEP for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) between 2008 and 2016 at our institution were retrospectively reviewed. We defined IPCa as prostate cancer (PCa) according to the enucleated tissue of transitional zone. Therefore, 64 patients were excluded for the following reasons: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) ≥4.0 ng/ml and no prostate biopsy (n=46...

Gere S. diZerega Intratumoral (IT) administration of submicron particle docetaxel (NanoDoce®, NanOlogy LLC, Fort Worth, TX, USA) and its efficacy against genitourinary-oncologic xenografts in rats and mice, xenograft-site docetaxel concentrations and immune-cell infiltration were studied. IT-NanoDoce®, IV-docetaxel and IT-vehicle were administered to clear cell renal carcinoma (786-O: rats), transitional cell bladder carcinoma (UM-UC-3: mice) and prostate carcinoma (PC-3: mice). Treatments were given every 7 days with 1, 2, or 3 doses administered. Animals were followed for tumor growth and clinical si...

ConclusionPI-RADS v2 has slightly higher sensitivity but at the expense of minor decreased specificity. Thus, on the whole PI-RADS v1 and PI-RADS v2 have comparable diagnostic accuracy.

CONCLUSION: MRI-TRUS guided prostate biopsy improves the detection of PCa, but systematic biopsy is still essential. In selected cases (PIRADS 5), contralateral lobe systematic biopsy can safely be avoided. Pre-biopsy mpMRI might reduce the number of biopsy sessions in patients with anterior and transitional lesions. PMID: 30779829 [PubMed - in process]
