Twin pregnancy outcomes after metabolic and bariatric surgery

Obesity is recognized as a global epidemic due to its constantly growing incidence [1]. Its worldwide prevalence has more than doubled in the last 2 decades, and currently entails 35% of the U.S. population [1]. The most effective treatment for morbid obesity has become bariatric surgery (BS); its efficacy in achieving significant weight loss and improving obesity-related co-morbidities has been well established [2]. In light of the high proportion of reproductive-aged women among BS patients, coupled with the rapidly increasing use of BS, obstetricians are increasingly likely to encounter women who have undergone BS in their practice [3].
