Aerobic physical exercise for adult patients with haematological malignancies.
CONCLUSIONS: Eighteen, mostly small RCTs did not identify evidence for a difference in terms of mortality. Physical exercise added to standard care might improve fatigue and depression. Currently, there is inconclusive evidence regarding QoL, physical functioning, anxiety and SAEs .We need further trials with more participants and longer follow-up periods to evaluate the effects of exercise intervention for people suffering from haematological malignancies. To enhance comparability of study data, development and implementation of core sets of measuring devices would be helpful. PMID: 30702150 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
ConclusionsHypothalamic EPO plays a role in the central regulation of muscle and metabolic physiology while its decline contributes to aging and obesity physiology in a manner which is independent of peripheral EPO.
In conclusion, the role of the anesthetist should be to supervise endoscopy activities at every level. PMID: 31808663 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

N-arylpiperazine moiety is important for CNS-activity, particularly for serotonergic and dopaminergic activity. In the scientific literature there are many examples of coumarin-piperazine derivatives, particularly with arylpiperazines linked to a coum...
Functional coupling of M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor to Gαq/11 in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex from patients with psychiatric disorders: a postmortem study. Eur Arch Psychiatry Clin Neurosci. 2019 Dec 05;: Authors: Odagaki Y, Kinoshita M, Meana JJ, Callado LF, García-Sevilla JA Abstract Accumulating studies have implicated intracellular signaling through muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) in psychiatric illness. In the present study, carbamylcholine chloride (carbachol)-induced Gαi/o and Gαq/11 activation was identified in postmortem human prefrontal cortical ...
CONCLUSIONS: Prenatally initiated CBT did not improve maternal symptoms or child outcomes among non-help-seeking women with antenatal depression or anxiety. Our findings are not in line with present recommendations for universal screening and treatment for antenatal depression or anxiety, and future work may include the relevance of baseline help-seeking. Publication date: Available online 22 October 2019Source: Seminars in Cancer BiologyAuthor(s): Tamara T. Lah, Metka Novak, Barbara BreznikAbstractBrain, the major organ of the central nervous system controls and processes most of body activities. Therefore, the most aggressive brain tumor – glioblastoma and metastases from other organs to the brain are lethal leaving the patients with very short time of survival. The brain tissue landscape is very different from any other tissues and the specific microenvironment, comprising stem cells niches and blood-brain barrier, significantly influences the low rate of glioblast...
Physician burnout can be a contributing factor to depression, substance abuse, problems with relationships, and thoughts of suicide. Burnout of physicians also results in decreased quality, safety, and outcomes for patients and more financial costs for health-care institutions. It is not enough for health-care systems to focus on helping the individual; these organizations also need to understand that they are the main cause of physician burnout and take appropriate action to reform their processes.
We report the case of a 52-year-old woman with follicular lymphoma localized in the left inguinal region without any extranodal involvement and achieving a complete response after radiotherapy. After a 3-year disease-free interval, muscular recurrence at the left arm was shown by contrast-enhanced 18F-FDG PET/CT. Contrast-enhanced 18F-FDG PET/CT performed after immunochemotherapy documented complete disease remission. Lymphoid tissue is usually not present in the skeletal muscle, making muscular lymphomatous involvement quite unusual; muscular relapse of a primarily nodal lymphoma is even rarer.
We present 4 cases of pathology-confirmed BIA-ALCL to illustrate varying presentations and imaging features of this disease process. Breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma presents most commonly approximately 10 years after implantation of textured silicone or saline breast implants. Patients may present with breast enlargement, peri-implant effusion, a palpable breast or axillary mass, lymphadenopathy, breast skin erythema, or pain. Diagnosis of BIA-ALCL may be confirmed by sampling of peri-implant fluid or biopsy of peri-implant masses or regional lymph nodes.
Some patients with splenic angiosarcoma initially manifest thrombocytopenia owing to hypersplenism or tumor-related bone marrow fibrosis. The diagnosis of bone marrow metastasis in patients with splenic angiosarcoma is challenging, as the presentation mimics idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura or primary myelofibrosis. Our case showed diffuse FDG uptake in the vertebral bodies, sacroiliac bone, humerus, femur, and clavicles. It was pathologically diagnosed as bone marrow metastasis of splenic angiosarcoma. We believe that the heterogeneous FDG accumulation in the bone marrow, although nonspecific, can be useful for the dia...
