Authors: Lin L, Xu X, Yu Y, Ye H, He X, Chen S, Chen X, Shao Z, Chen P Abstract Objective: There were some clinical studies on GLP-1R agonist liraglutide therapy for psoriasis patients with type 2 diabetes, but there is a lack of randomized controlled trials and the mechanism of which remains unclear.Method: A total of 25 psoriasis patients with type 2 diabetes were randomized 1: 1 divided into the control group (n = 13) or liraglutide group (n = 12) for 12 weeks. We determined the PASI, the DLQI, histopathology of psoriasis skin, and the expression of IL-17, IL-23, and TNF-α in th...
This article addresses the Evaluation of Ertugliflozin Efficacy and Safety Cardiovascular Outcomes (VERTIS-CV) trial, its background, design, results, and implications. In patients at least 40 years of age with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), the VERTIS-CV trial demonstrated ertugliflozin was non-inferior to placebo for major adverse cardiovascular events, though not superior. Ertugliflozin significantly reduced hospitalization for heart failure compared to placebo. The composite renal outcome was not significantly different between groups. Ertugliflozin was generally well tolerated with a safety profi...
After significant APA advocacy, the House Veterans ’ Affairs Committee removed a proposal to implement a pilot program allowing clinical psychologists to prescribe and manage medications for veterans who seek care in the Veterans Health Administration. After learning about the proposal, APA issued an advocacy alert that resulted in over 1,000 members sending more than 3,000 letters to their elected officials on Capitol Hill, opposing the proposal and urging lawmakers to ensure veterans receive the highest quality mental health care possible. Conclusions. Human islet isolates with insufficient beta-cell mass for implantation within 72 hours can be cultured for 96 hours and longer to combine multiple preparations in order to reach the desired beta-cell dose and therefore result in a better metabolic benefit.
Conclusions. BAT remarkably enhances the viability and biological function of the transplanted ectopic islets. Moreover, the anatomical location of BAT lends itself to biopsy, removal, and islet retransplantation, which strongly suggests the BAT as a potential desirable site for islet transplantation in basic and clinical research.
Conclusions. Cibinetide reduced the initial transplantation–related severe inflammation and delayed the subsequent alloreactivity. Cibinetide, in combination with low-dose tacrolimus, could significantly improve long-term graft survival in allogeneic PITx.
Conclusion: High prevalence of SCH in T2DM patients suggests that there is a need for regular follow-up to check the progression of SCH to overt hypothyroidism. High serum TSH is not a predictor of poor glycemic control. PMID: 32963752 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: Mechanically ventilated COVID-19 patients present with an imbalance between markedly increased factor V/VIII activity and overwhelmed protein C/S pathway. Plasma D-dimer may be a useful biomarker at the bedside for suspicion of VTE. PMID: 32965009 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: High glucose raises the ER stress in CHs and overexpression of Skp2 promotes CH proliferation under high glucose treatment. PMID: 32965004 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
