Ten-year outcomes after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy: An observational non-randomized cohort study
Although sleeve gastrectomy (SG) was originally conceived as the gastric component of duodenal switch [1,2], in recent years this surgical technique has gained popularity as standalone bariatric surgery (BS) procedure. Indeed, SG has replaced RYGB as the most commonly performed BS procedure worldwide [3]. Notably, comparable weight loss (WL) at mid-term (five years) after RYGB and SG was recently reported in two randomized clinical trials (RCT) [4,5]. That being said, RYGB was found superior to SG on lipid and blood pressure control in the above mentioned RCTs [4,5].
