Comment on long-term outcomes of metabolic and bariatric surgery in adolescents with severe obesity with a follow-up of at least 5 years: a systematic review
The systematic review entitled “Long-term outcomes of metabolic and bariatric surgery in adolescents with severe obesity with a follow-up of at least 5 years: a systematic review” [1] in Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases is a timely publication addressing the obesity epidemic in a growing population of patients. Childh ood obesity has increased exponentially all over the world and has put adolescents at an increased risk for developing adult co-morbidities. Family-based lifestyle modification is a crucial step in weight management but bariatric surgery is the most effective measure for weight loss and improvement of co-morbidities [2].
