Effects of Clematis chinensis Osbeck mediated by low-intensity pulsed ultrasound on transforming growth factor- β/Smad signaling in rabbit articular chondrocytes

In this study, we aimed to explore whether and how low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) enhanced CCO delivery into chondrocytes and stimulated biological activity in vitro.MethodsChondrocytes were isolated from knee articular cartilage of 2-week-old rabbits and treated with LIPUS plus CCO or recombinant transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF- β1; 0.5 ng/mL), with or without anti-TGF-β1 antibodies (10 μg/mL), for 3 days. Cell proliferation was assessed by Cell-Counting Kit-8 assays. ConclusionsWithin a population at risk of fetal macrosomia the performance of 3D-US-EFW is similar to that of 2D-US-EFW in the prediction of macrosomia at term regardless of the method used for the projection of the EFW, however different properties were noted between the two techniques. Such finding suggests a potential complementary role of the techniques which warrants evaluation in future research.

In this study we comparatively investigated the SSC of powdered pomegranate husks by A. niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and evaluated the recovery yields of EA by an ultrasound and microwave-assisted 7:3 water/ethanol extraction. Surprisingly enough, the yields obtained by S. cerevisiae fermentation (4% w/w) were found 5-fold higher than those of the A. niger fermented material, with a 10-fold increase with respect to the unfermented material.
