Brugada phenocopy induced by hyperkalemia

A 62-year-old woman presented for a scheduled transurethral resection of a bladder tumor. Her medical history included a diagnosis of end-stage renal disease secondary to chronic pyelonephritis. She had been on hemodialysis for 2 years. She had no history of coronary artery disease and no family history of congenital heart disease or sudden cardiac death. After cystoscopy, she reported nausea and said that she had missed her scheduled hemodialysis session the day prior. Laboratory analysis revealed hyperkalemia (7.8 mEq/l; reference range: 3.3 –5.1 mEq/l).
