AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate whether (a) baseline levels of panic-specific reflection function (PSRF; i.e. patients ’ capacity to reflect on their panic symptoms) and improvement in this capacity over treatment, (b) baseline borderline personality disorder (BPD) traits and pre–post treatment improvement in BPD traits predict change in patients’ quality of object relations (QORs). A subsample of 102 patients diagnosed with panic disorder from a larger randomized controlled trial received either Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or Panic-Focused Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. We investigated wh...

Heightened amygdala response to threatening cues has been repeatedly observed in borderline personality disorder (BPD). A previous report linked hyperactivation to deficient amygdala habituation to repeated stimuli, but the biological underpinnings are incompletely understood.

ConclusionThrough exploration of the etiology, symptom presentation, and altered neurological function, we propose an animal model of BPD. We believe that a number of existing animal paradigms that model other mental health disorders should be combined in a unique way to reflect the etiology, symptom presentation, and altered neurological function that is evident in BPD. These model, when compared with available human data, will inform research and treatment in humans for better understanding of systems from the micro-molecular level to more global physiology underlying BPD.

CONCLUSIONS: Nursing care involved technologies related, medicine administration and physical restraint. There were difficulties in dealing with this disorder. The way to care for nursing, although still permeated by some prejudices, runs through ideologies contained in the ethical assumptions that operate in the light of Freire's work. Abstract Previous research has identified experiential avoidance (EA) as related to a host of adolescent internalizing and externalizing problems, as well as borderline personality disorder, suggesting that it is a crosscutting factor for adolescent psychopathology. It remains unclear whether EA differs among adolescents with BPD compared to adolescents with other psychiatric disorders and healthy adolescents. The aims of this study were to 1) examine EA in adolescents with BPD compared to non-BPD inpatient adolescents and healthy adolescents, and 2) to evaluate whether EA has a unique relationship to borderline p...

This poem is about a mother who suffered from borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia. The mother recently lost custody of her daughter due to her physical abuse of the child. Both were ordered by the court to attend therapy sessions to improve their attachment. As a family therapist, I struggled to keep a balance between empathizing with, and challenging the mother. I wrote this poem and used it in session to help the mother appreciate the effect of her aggressive behaviors on her daughter. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
