184. Institutional Assessment: Knowledge, Attitudes And Practices of Trauma Informed Practices

Early childhood trauma and adversity can have a profound impact on an individual ’s psychological development and a negative impact on health and well being. The 2016 National Survey of Children's Health showed that 47% of children in Washington D.C. have had one or more adverse/traumatic childhood experiences. At Children’s National Health System (CNHS), these data affirmed the need to acknowledge, address, and reduce the impact of trauma to promote the health of our pediatric patients. Our objectives were to: (1) Determine baseline knowledge, attitudes, and practices of trauma informed practice (TIP) and to identify gaps to inform an educational intervention and (2) Validate a tool to effectively measure institutional knowledge, attitudes and practices of TIP.
