Factors Influencing Long Term Weight Loss after Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment option to fight the increasing obesity epidemic and associated comorbid conditions[1,2]. However, up to 15% of patients undergoing bariatric surgery may not achieve successful weight loss of greater than 50% excess body weight [3,4]. Furthermore, maximal weight loss is observed at 1-2 years after surgery with weight regain after this initial post-surgical period [5].
