Hospital lung surgery volume and patient outcomes

Lung cancer is the fifth most common cancer diagnosed in Australia and the leading cause of cancer death. It is estimated that 9,000 patients will have died from lung cancer in Australia in 2017 [1]. Australia has some of the best patient outcomes compared to international data, but 5-year survival for localised disease is still only approximately 40% [2,3].
