Busy IVF clinics vs efficient IVF clinics !

Going through an IVF treatment is stressful, and we try to reduce the stress of our IVF patients by managing their medical treatment remotely as far as possible , so they have to make fewer trips to the clinic .Thus, for out of Mumbai patients, we encourage them to do their tests locally; we share the treatment plan by email ; and answer questions by email and WhatsApp. This way, they can start the treatment directly, instead of having to come to Mumbai first for a consultation, and then to come back again for their actual treatment. We encourage our patients to take their injections by themselves , which means they need to the come to the clinic only 4 - 6 times during their treatment cycle . This means that there aren't too many patients present physically in the clinic at any time, which is good for patients , because they don't need to wait to see us.On the other hand , this efficiency sometimes backfires , because patients get the impression that we don't do many IVF cycles , and aren't very busy .Other IVF doctors seem to take pleasure in calling patients to the clinic treatment every single day - either for scans, blood tests or injections - whether they actually need this medically or not !Because the clinic is then overflowing ( with waiting patients and their family members), this gives the impression that they must be very good, because they attract lots of patients.Patients are naive, and believe that busy doctors are good doctors, because there are so many pa...

CONCLUSION: In patients who weigh 100kg or less but are overweight or obese and do not present an adequate response with UST 45mg, increasing the dose to UST 90mg could be an alternative option. PMID: 30883242 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study "principal component analysis" was used as a statistical tool in order to determine the ideal tibia baseplate shape, based upon anthropometric CT- scan data defining an average proximal tibial shape and variations. Gender specificity was evaluated and differences in geometry depending on anatomic constitution (varus, neutral, valgus) were analyzed. The results from our study indicate that in the arthritic knee differences in proximal tibial morphology at the resection level were mainly attributed to size and not shape. This is true for both Caucasian men and women, and is independent from the anatom...

Authors: Yi PS, Li Y, Yan S, Wu B, Lan C, Li JS Abstract AIM: To investigate the efficacy of surgery combined with post-operative trancatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: A total of 102 patients were divided into two groups: Radical liver resection only (LR group, 52 patients) and radical liver resection combined with post-operative TACE (combined group, 50 patients). Survival analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed using Cox proportional analysis to detect prognostic factors of surv...

This study aimed at validating prognostic performance of P4HA2 and PRTN3 in a larger cohort of patients. METHODS: The expression of P4HA2 and PRTN3 was evaluated with tissue microarrays and immunohistochemistry in 140 patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent surgical resection. Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression modeling were used to explore the association of P4HA2 and PRTN3, either separately or combined, with clinicopathological factors and survival. RESULTS: Most tumors were positive for P4HA2 (133/140, 95%), whereas 77 tumors (55%) were positive for PRTN3. Expression levels of P4HA2 and ...

Authors: Zhang Q, Li Z, Xu K, Qian Y, Chen M, Sun L, Song S, Huang X, He Z, Li F, Zhang D, Yang L, Wang Y, Xu H, Xu Z Abstract BACKGROUND: We aimed to investigate the role of intracellular imatinib concentration in drug resistance and the expression of candidate drug transporters in gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) cell lines. METHOD: The imatinib concentrations were measured by the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The expression of candida te drug transporters was detected by qRT-PCR. RESULTS: The tissue imatinib concentrations in imatinib resistant patients were significantl...

In this study we used FGFR1 and FGFR2 gene amplifications containing human MFM223 breast cancer cells in an experimental xenograft model of breast cancer bone growth using intratibial inoculation technique. This model mimics bone metastases in breast cancer patients. The effects of an FGFR inhibitor, dovitinib dilactic acid (TKI258) on tumor growth and tumor-induced bone changes were evaluated. Cancer-induced bone lesions were smaller in dovitinib-treated mice as evaluated by X-ray imaging. Peripheral quantitative computed tomography imaging showed higher total and cortical bone mineral content and cortical bone mineral de...

Publication date: Available online 18 March 2019Source: Materials LettersAuthor(s): Wanmin Liu, Mulan Qin, Chengwei Gao, Donghong Yu, Yuanzheng YueAbstractA spherical LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2 (NCA) cathode material is synthesized from the precursor Ni0.8Co0.15Al0.05(OH)2 obtained through a co-precipitation method using potassium sodium tartrate for the first time as a chelating agent. X-ray diffraction analysis proves that the as-prepared NCA is a hexagonal phase with perfectly ordered layered structure. Scanning electron microscope study shows that the morphology and size of NCA remain nearly the same as those of the precurs...
