Pathology and immunohistochemical evaluation of Vibrio alginolyticus infection in Macrobrachium rosenbergii

This study investigated the histological alterations in groups ofMacrobrachium rosenbergii experimentally injected intramuscularly between the second and third abdominal segment with 50  μL of 107 CFU ofV. alginolyticus. Twenty-four hours post inoculation, the organism was isolated and molecularly characterized while infected giant freshwater prawns were observed for histological alterations and immunoreactivity in different tissues due to the experimental challenge. The lesions observed in the organs include incipient haemocytic infiltration into the interstitial space of the tubules of the hepatopancreas and loss of epithelial layer, muscular necrosis and disruption of muscular layer with haemocytic infiltration, hyperplasia of epithelial cells and degeneration of the epithelium, deformed and necrotizing lamellae, and enlargement of the lamellar sinus of the gill, and the heart is characterized by localized nodular haemocytic reaction and melanization. Organs such as the heart, gill, hepatopancreas and muscle following injection of the putative bacteria showed immunohistochemical activity. Hence, histology and immunohistochemistry still remain important tools for vibriosis disease diagnoses in giant freshwater prawns.

Conclusion: For the first time, para-aminobenzoic acid was well determined by incorporating it as an organic solid compound, 4(4-Benzophenylazo)pyrogallol, through coupling pyrogallol with diazotized para-aminobenzoic acid in regulated pH medium, ranging between 5.0 to 6.0. The existence of common excipients in the dietary supplement did not produce any significant interference. F- and ttest data analysis were used for statistical comparison of the suggested techniques with that of reference method, demonstrating excellent agreement with no significant difference in the associated precision and accuracy.

Conclusions: RME promotes a significant gain in the surface area of the palate and an increase in intermolar width. The Hyrax appliance was effective for the treatment of maxillary atresia in growing patients. There was no vertical alteration of the palate . After a 6-month retention period, the maxilla transverse dimension and the surface area of the palate remained stable.RESUMO Objetivo: o objetivo do presente estudo foi estimar a altera ção na área do palato após expansão rápida da maxila (ERM) com o expansor Hyrax em indivíduos em crescimento, utilizando tomografia comp...

The characterization of the final products was performed in this work. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) results presented that our prepared NGW:Eu3+ phosphors are single-phase and belong to the tetragonal system, and the field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) study showed that our synthesized samples consist of many irregular rod-like ...

CONCLUSION: This is the first study to characterize the neurocognitive effects of combined RUL-UB ECT and venlafaxine in elderly adults with MDD and provides new evidence for the tolerability of RUL-UB ECT in an elderly sample. Of the cognitive domains assessed, only phonemic fluency, complex visual scanning, and cognitive flexibility qualitatively declined from low average to mildly impaired. While some acute changes in neurocognitive performance were statistically significant, the majority of the indices as based on the effect sizes remained relatively stable. Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors of carotid artery stenosis (CAS) using carotid duplex ultrasound in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between January 2017 and January 2018 and included 166 consecutive patients [130 males (78.31%), 36 females (21.69%); mean age: 64.25 ±9.78 years] who underwent elective and isolated CABG. Patients who had significant CAS ( ≥ 50% stenosis) were compared with patients who had non-significant CAS (

A full-field coherent imaging approach suitable for hard X-rays based on a classical (i.e. Galilean) X-ray microscope is described. The method combines a series of low-resolution images acquired at different transverse lens positions into a single high-resolution image, overcoming the spatial resolution limit set by the numerical aperture of the objective lens. The optical principles of the approach are described, the successful reconstruction of simulated phantom data is demonstrated, and aspects of the reconstruction are discussed. The authors believe that this approach offers some potential benefits over conventional sc...

Abstract The study investigated the efficacy of two GRAS-status phytochemicals, mega-resveratrol (RV) and naringenin (NG) to inactivate Escherichia coli O157:H7 (EHEC) in apple cider. A five-strain mixture of EHEC (∼7 log CFU/ml) was inoculated into cider, followed by the addition of RV (8.7 mM and 13.0 mM) or NG (7.3 mM and 11.0 mM). The cider samples were stored at 4 °C for 14 days and EHEC was enumerated on days 0,1,5,7 and 14. The deleterious effects of RV and NG on EHEC cells were visualized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and RT-qPCR was done to determine the effect of phytochemicals...

This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory activity of phenyllactic acid (PLA) against the biofilm formation of Enterococcus faecalis and to explore its potential molecular mechanism. The MIC value of PLA that inhibited the growth of E. faecalis R612-Z1 in BHI broth was 5 mg/mL. PLAs at subinhibitory concentrations of 1.25 and 2.50 mg/mL were found to inhibit biofilm formation by a crystal violet staining assay. The cell swimming and swarming motilities of E. faecalis were reduced in the presence of PLA. An apparent decrease in the thickness of PLA-treated biofilms was observed through confocal laser scanning microsco...
