HRS 40th anniversary viewpoints: Living better electrically

I was born in March of 1931, a year that coincided with the financial difficulties that led to the depression, which lasted from 1929 to 1939. Franklin D. Roosevelt became president in 1933, beginning a sequence of multiple terms that lasted until his death in 1945, when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage. My father emerged from the family farm in Bangor, Maine, and became the first member to attend college, a feat that he accomplished, over time, by working as a carpenter with his father or as an accountant in a lumber operation deep in the woods of Maine.
