Bladder cancer is the second most common urologic malignancy. Transitional cell carcinoma accounts for more than 90% of cases; other types include squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. In stage 1 disease, when the tumors are superficial, bladder cancer is treatable with transurethral resection and intravesical therapy.
