In 2015, a 14-year old male with end stage cystic fibrosis (DF508 homozygous) on 24-hourly supplemental oxygen and nocturnal non-invasive ventilation underwent bilateral sequential lung transplant (LTx). He was known to have been colonized with pulmonary Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Mycobacterium abscessus (M.abscessus) from 2006. Pre-LTx M abscessus eradication was attempted with 4-months of intravenous (IV) cefazolin, amikacin and tigecycline; as well as oral (PO) clarithromycin, in addition to monthly intravenous-gammaglobulin(IVIG) (serum IgG level 3g/L).
