Superficial Siderosis of the Central Nervous System: Neurotological Findings Related to Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Conclusion: The MRI results with SWI were related to neurotological findings in patients suffering from sensorineural deafness with ataxia due to SS. Our findings support the integration of the SWI and 3D-CISS sequences into the MRI protocol for all patients referred for evaluation of the extent of SS.

We present the case of a patient with an incidental ultrasonographic finding of bilateral aneurysm of the internal iliac arteries, both with indications for surgery. The patient was successfully treated with endovascular techniques, first repairing the right internal iliac with a branched iliac stent graft, preserving patency, then embolizing the left internal iliac artery. Knowledge of the various different techniques and devices and their limitations is fundamental to adequate planning of endovascular treatment, even in rare cases.

ConclusionsSDB is common in adult patients with FSHD complaining of sleep-related symptoms. It may comprise OSA, NH, and most often, the combination of both. Sleep-related hypercapnia is associated with disease severity. Transcutaneous capnometry is superior to pulse oximetry for detection of NH.
