Predicting latent classes of drug use among adolescents through parental alcohol use and parental style: a longitudinal study

ConclusionParental alcohol use and parenting style seem to be important predictors of adolescent ’s likelihood of belonging to different latent classes of drug use. This conclusion may point to the importance of considering the inclusion of parenting skills and parental alcohol use within the scope of adolescents’ preventive interventions.

The objective of this study was to investigate the association of MTHFR 677C>T (rs1801133), MTR 2756A>G (rs1805087), RFC1 80A>G (rs1051266) and CßS 844ins(68) (no rs#) polymorphisms and thyroid cancer development. The association of these polymorphisms with demographic risk factors and clinical histopathological parameters was also evaluated. Material and methods: The study is a case-control analysis with a total of 462 individuals (151 patients and 311 controls). Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique was used for genotyping. The χ2 and multiple logistic regress...

Authors: Li H, Wang R, Méndez-Sánchez N, Peng Y, Guo X, Qi X Abstract Introduction: Spider nevus and subcutaneous collateral vessel of the chest/abdominal wall are common in liver cirrhosis. This prospective study aimed to evaluate the impact of spider nevus and subcutaneous collateral vessel of the chest/abdominal wall on the outcomes of cirrhotic patients. Material and methods: We prospectively enrolled patients with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis consecutively admitted to our department. We recorded the number and location of spider nevi and subcutaneous collateral vessels of the chest/abdomina...

In this study, we fabricated the hydrogel microrobot, analyzed its characteristics (shape, size, magnetization, and drug encapsulation), verified the possibilities of targeting and disassembly of the hydrogel microrobot, and proved the retrieval of MNPs and the drug delivery from the remaining PLGA–DOX particles. Additionally, we executed the drug-releasing experiment using PLGA–DOX particles and confirmed the therapeutic effect of the hydrogel microrobot through an in vitro test using Hep3B cancer cell. We conclude that the proposed hydrogel microrobot is a new type of biocompatible microrobot with the capabil...

EARABAE was synthesized from ricinoleic acid and binary alcohol ether and it's chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, ESI-TOF-MS. EARABAEE was mixed with the poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and mechanical property was investigated. The static mechanical property tests indicated that the PVC film plasticized by epoxy benzoylated...

SilvaAbstractThe photocatalytic conversion of alcohols into the corresponding aldehydes constitutes an important reaction in organic synthesis. Optical semiconductors based on carbon nitride were prepared by thermal condensation of dicyandiamide followed by a thermal post-treatment (gCN-T) and further sonication (gCN-TS). The efficiency of these materials was evaluated on the selective conversion of different aromatic alcohols to the corr...

The objective of this study was to determine whether three common genetic polymorphisms [apolipoprotein (APOE) ε4 (rs42938 and rs7412), brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) Met (rs6265), and catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) Val (rs4680)] are associated with increased psychiatric symptomatology in individuals with pharmacoresistant epilepsy.MethodsOne hundred forty-eight adults (Mage = 38 years; 53% female) with refractory epilepsy completed self-report measures of mood, anxiety, and/or personality/psychopathology. Mann–Whitney U, t-tests, and Fisher's exact tests were used to determine if APOE4, ...

Discussion: Incomplete septal cirrhosis is an uncommon cause of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. Its definition is not well known, morphological and pathophysiological. We have not found published cases of post-RT ascites secondary to this pathology, described as possibly associated with drugs, immune alterations, infections, hypercoagulability and genetic predisposition.
