Inversion of the acetabular labrum causes increased localized contact pressure on the femoral head: a biomechanical study
ConclusionsWhen silicone rubber representing an inverted acetabular labrum was placed between a hemispherical metallic platen and a composite bone model, the silicone rubber areas were subjected to extreme concentration of stress. The fractures that developed at the silicone rubber areas clearly represented subchondral fractures of the femoral head, rather than fractures of the femoral neck.
Conclusion Gait variability improved after total hip arthroplasty due to improved hip function. However, trunk variability was insufficient compared with that in healthy individuals.
Objective The aim of the study was to assess the time effect of intra-articular injection with triamcinolone hexacetonide in rheumatic patients. Design A prospective case-control study with patients submitted to one intra-articular injection with triamcinolone hexacetonide. Patients were followed monthly (12 mos) for pain and swelling. Results Two hundred sixty-two joints were assessed in 158 patients with mean ± SD age of 60 ± 13.7 yrs. Remission was observed at 3, 6, and 12 mos in 142 (54.19%), 111 (42.36%), and 105 (40.07%) joints, respectively. The mean ± SD time effect were 8 ± 4.0 ...
Conclusions Quadriceps muscle strength of both knees and knee pain were important factors correlated with gait function early after total knee arthroplasty.
ConclusionsFor selected comminuted olecranon fractures, TBW with the eyelet pins and biodegradable pins could yield satisfactory clinical and radiographic outcomes.
Authors: Mohd Sahardi NFN, Makpol S Abstract Currently, the age of the population is increasing as a result of increased life expectancy. Ageing is defined as the progressive loss of physiological integrity, which can be characterized by functional impairment and high vulnerability to various types of diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and atherosclerosis. Numerous studies have reported that the presence of oxidative stress and inflammation contributes to the development of these diseases. In general, oxidative stress could induce proinflammatory cytokines ...
ConclusionsAnatomic ACL reconstruction could restore not only the normal anterior knee laxity, but also the normal tibiofemoral relationship even under an anterior tibial load.
Conclusions. The EPPA questionnaire has good psychometric properties and can help guide the management of knee osteoarthritis. It can be used in research for evaluating the perception of physical activity.

Surgical treatment mainly consists of debridement. The main aim of the present study was to assess the efficacy of arthroscopic treatment of o...
