Worcester (MA) Firefighter Dies at Apartment Building Fire

  A Worcester firefighter has died in an early-morning fire inside an apartment building on Lowell Street in Worcester this morning. Read more at MassLive   Sources confirm the firefighter died from his injuries while battling the fire. Firefighters are still at the scene of 5-7 Lowell St. as of 8 a.m.   Initially, there were reports of a firefighter trapped in the building during the response. The street remains closed. The fire department is still fighting the fire inside the large building. According to WCVB, Firefighter Christopher Roy, 36, was rescued from the burning building, along with another firefighter. Roy died of his injuries at a local hospital. The second firefighter who was rescued is in stable condition, said chief Michael Lavoie. Roy leaves behind a daughter, his parents and a brother, Lavoie said.
