NNLM Reading Club Book Kits: Family Health History

Book clubs provide a space that encourages engaged conversations and allows for people to connect with one another. The NNLM All of Us Community Engagement Network has developed the NNLM Reading Club as a way to build and support conversations around important health topics. The goal is to support libraries’ health literacy efforts and address local communities’ health information needs, through the fun and intimacy of a book club. The NNLM Reading Club offers a selection of three different book titles, along with corresponding free, ready-to-use materials designed to help promote and facilitate a book club discussion on a health issue or topic. This program-in-a-box includes 8 copies of each of the following items, all of which are tucked inside a handy library bag and shipped to the requesting library: the selected book discussion guide MedlinePlus flyer NIH MedlinePlus Magazine additional material in support of the health topic Any NNLM MAR member organization (membership is free!) is eligible to apply for one free NNLM Reading Club Book Kit through April 30, 2019. Due to the expected high demand, public libraries will receive priority status in the selection process, but all are welcome to apply.
