Detection of tick-borne infection in Morgellons disease patients by serological and molecular techniques.
Conclusion: The study demonstrates an association between MD and positive tests for both Bb and RFB spirochetes. In conjunction with previous studies, our study provides corroborative evidence linking MD to Borrelia infection and tick-borne illness. PMID: 30519067 [PubMed]

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal condition in women of reproductive age. During BV development, BV-associated bacteria may form a polymicrobial biofilm, which predispose women to recurrent BV. The aim of the study was to investigate the growth forms of Gardnerella spp. and Lactobacillus spp. and to determine the association between the bacterial growth forms and clinical characteristics [urinary tract infection (UTI) symptoms, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and abnormal vaginal discharge] in women attending a tertiary hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. A first-void urine specimen was collected fr...

In conclusion, BaP is able to change the activity of Aro and disrupt the biosynthesis of estrogens, and thus affects reproduction in fish.
Purpose of review To review the recent evidence from observational/genetic/interventional studies addressing triglycerides and residual cardiovascular risk (CVRisk). Recent findings Large population-based and secondary prevention studies consistently show an association of higher triglycerides with increased CVRisk. This is compounded by genetic studies demonstrating an independent relationship between triglyceride raising or lowering genetic variants affecting triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL) metabolism and CVRisk. Mendelian randomization analysis suggests the benefit of genetic lowering of triglycerides and LDL-...
Conclusions: Omega-3 supplementation seems to be effective in reducing the occurrence of capsular formation, mainly through inhibition of the TGF-β pathway and impairment of collagen deposit. Omega-3 supplementation is a simple and promising method that could be used to prevent or at least reduce capsular contracture after silicone implant surgery.
