New PET tracer identified for imaging Tau in Alzheimer's disease patients

(Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging) Tau tangles in the brain are markers of Alzheimer's disease and are also potential therapy targets. A study featured in the December issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine reports on the identification of a promising second-generation positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for imaging and measuring tau pathology, contributing to understanding of Alzheimer's and related dementias.
