Is the pancreas regeneration debate settled? An original theory renewed

(Diabetes Research Institute Foundation) A contentious debate among diabetes researchers has surrounded the regeneration of pancreatic insulin-producing cells: not if these cells regenerate, but rather how. Diabetes Research Institute scientists now draw categorical conclusions that pancreatic progenitors do exist. The prevailing theory, they say, is based upon an unreliable tool in an inadequate model.
