The prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease in an adult, South African black population, and the association with obesity.

CONCLUSIONS: GORD is more common in black females than males and in the former group its prevalence rose with increasing BMI and then decreases at BMIs exceeding 33.1. The reason for the gender differences and the inverted 'U' shaped relationship between GORD and BMI are not known and require further investigation. PMID: 30488678 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
