Despite increasing literature on the management of symptomatic uncomplicated diverticular disease, there is limited evidence that colonic diverticula are associated with chronic gastrointestinal symptoms or mucosal inflammation. Before recommending a therapy, we must establish the legitimacy of a condition or else we risk a delayed diagnosis and exposing our patients to unfounded risks.
