A randomized, placebo- and moxifloxacin-controlled thorough QT study of umeclidinium monotherapy and umeclidinium/vilanterol combination in healthy subjects

Conclusion There was no clinically significant effect on QTcF observed following 10-days' treatment with inhaled UMEC/VI 125/25 μg or UMEC 500 μg compared with placebo. The supratherapeutic dose of UMEC/VI 500/100 μg prolonged QTcF by 6.4 ms (90% CI: 4.3, 8.5) at 10 min and 8.2 ms (90% CI: 6.2, 10.2) at 30 min compared with placebo, following which QTcF interval difference from placebo declined rapidly..

We examined the association between HR obtained at admission at Day 4 and at discharge and long ‐term mortality in a cohort of 672 patients discharge from hospital after management of acute HF.Methods and resultsAll patients examined were in sinus rhythm. HR was derived from electrocardiogram and was defined as the first reported HR in the medical record. At 1  year follow up, 60 patients died. Median HR was 86 ± 17 b.p.m. (first tertile: 75 b.p.m., third tertile: 97 b.p.m.) at admission, 76 ± 14 b.p.m. (first tertile: 67 b.p.m., third tertile 85 b.p.m....

In this study, ECGs were evaluated before and after the usage of salbutamol and ipratropium bromide. Patients were evaluated before and after 4 weeks of treatment :1) salbutamol, 90 mcg 1 puffs every 4 hours 2) Ipratropium Bromide, 34 mcg 2 puffs every 6 hours. ECGs performed pre-treatment and at 4th Week. We were able to find various arrhythmias such as atrial tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. 60 ECGs recordings in 30 treated patients (M=F). Out of 30 patients, ECG changes recorded in 28 patients. The most common met ECG was with atrial tachycardia in 20 patients out of which 12 were females (6...

We examined 86 ACOS patients without cardiovascular disease and thyroid dysfunction. Spirometry, echocardiography, 24-h electrocardiography monitoring, daily pulse oximetry (min% SpO2), blood pressure monitoring and determination of C-reactive protein (CRP) by latex immunoassay were performed. Health status was assessed using the CAT questionnaire. We found AF paroxysms in 42 ACOS patients. ACOS and AF group had more intensive systemic inflammation(CRP levels was 2.5 times higher than in group without rhythm disturbance), lower forced expiratory volume in 1 sec (FEV1) (by 36.5%, p

Introduction: Arrhythmias are present in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and heart failure (HF) patients, no study has been found where the prevalence and risk of arrhythmias present in both entities and their relation to hypoxia are determined, which could explain the biggest morbidity mortality when they coexist. Objective: To determine if hypoxia is a risk factor for arrhythmias in COPD and HF patients. Methods: Cross-sectional study, patients with COPD and / or HF diagnosis were included, asthma and cancer subjects were excluded. Arrhythmias were determinate by 24-hour Holter electrocardiogram and hypoxia by...

Authors: Yelgeç NS, Karataş MB, Karabay CY, Çanga Y, Şimşek B, Çalık AN, Emre A Abstract Background: Lead aVR provides prognostic information in various settings for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of a positive T wave in lead aVR (TaVR) for patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Methods: We screened a total of 412 consecutive patients who were hospitalised with a diagnosis of APE between 2008 and 2018. We investigated electrocardiograms (ECGs) for the presence of a positive TaVR and classified other abnormal ECG find...

ConclusionA case-finding strategy applied in primary care to multimorbid older people with dyspnoea or reduced exercise tolerance resulted in a number of new diagnoses of HF and COPD, but did not result in short-term improvement of health status compared to usual care.Trial registration.ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01148719

AbstractRevefenacin is a novel once ‐daily, lung‐selective, long‐acting muscarinic antagonist developed as a nebulized inhalation solution for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In a randomized, 4‐way crossover study, healthy subjects received a single inhaled dose of revefenacin 175 µg (ther apeutic dose), revefenacin 700 µg (supratherapeutic dose), and placebo via standard jet nebulizer, and a single oral dose of moxifloxacin 400 mg (open‐label) in separate treatment periods. Electrocardiograms were recorded, and pharmacokinetic samples were collected ...

This study is designed to investigate the effects of pulmonary arterial hypertension on RV systolic and diastolic functions in cases of COPD and to correlate RV systolic and diastolic functions with pulmonary arterial pressure. Materials and Methods: 100 patients admitted in various medical wards of tertiary care Hospital and a primary care hospital with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease persons with age and sex-matched. 35 age and sex matched person without any associated and known disease were taken as control subjects. Selection of cases has been made on basis of detailed history, thorough clinical examin...

Background: Electrocardiogram (ECG) contamination is present in diaphragm electromyography (EMGdi) recordings. Obtaining EMGdi without ECG contamination is crucial for EMG amplitude analysis. Manually selecting EMGdi in between QRS complexes has been most commonly applied in recent years (manual method). We developed a semi-automated analysis method based on Least Mean Square Adaptive Filtering combined with a synchronously recorded separate ECG channel to remove ECG artifacts from the EMGdi signals. We hypothesized that this approach would shorten analysis duration and might minimize the potential for inter-rater disagree...
