What Is the Specificity of the Aortic Dissection Detection Risk Score in a Low ‐prevalence Population?

ConclusionsOur study confirms that in North America the prevalence of AAS in those undergoing advanced imaging is low. The ADD ‐RS in this population has a low specificity. A lack of defined inclusion criteria and a low specificity limits the application of this rule in practice.

BACKGROUND: There is limited evidence on the long-term efficacy of transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization compared with hemorrhoidectomy. Most studies investigated short-term effects with postoperative pain as the primary outcome. Being a benign disease, the long-term goal of treatment for hemorrhoids is the resolution of symptoms and improvement of quality of life. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of minimal open hemorrhoidectomy versus transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization on patient-reported symptoms. DESIGN: This was an open-label randomized controlled trial. SETTINGS: This...

We report a case of the pathologically evaluated antitumor effect of pembrolizumab, a programmed death-1 immune checkpoint inhibitor antibody, in G-CSF-producing bladder cancer. A 53-year-old male patient underwent 4 courses chemotherapy with a combination of gemcitabine and carboplatin before a radical cystectomy with ileal neobladder. Four months after the surgery, local recurrence was detected in the pelvis and therefore pembrolizumab was used. One week after its administration, the patient showed increased mucus in his urine. A computed tomography scan and cystoscopy revealed a fistula between the ileum and the neoblad...

CONCLUSIONS: Large ranges of FOV and PKA were found for a given indication, demonstrating the importance of establishing DRLs as well as FOV recommendations in view of optimizing the present practice. For now, only DRLs for dental and maxillofacial could be defined; because of a lack of ENT data, no DRL values for ENT practices could be derived from this survey. This study aims to investigate the effect of miR-331-3p in rats following SCI. Microarray assay was performed in SCI- and sham-operated rats to evaluate the expression of miR-331-3p. Assigned SCI rats were treated with miR-331-3p agomiR alone or miR-331-3p agomiR plus RAP1A-expressing lentivirus or control agomiR. Rat locomotor performance was evaluated by BBB locomotor rating scale. Neuronal tissue damage and apoptosis were detected by histological analyses and Western blot. Inflammation in spinal cord was determined by detection of the expression of inflammatory genes with qRT-PCR, and ELISA. Downstream expression of RAP...
