Abstract Treatment of pilon fractures remains challenging due to the difficulty of fracture reduction and associated soft tissue complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pitfalls and strategies of posterior column reduction in the treatment of complex tibial pilon fractures (AO/OTA 43-C3). Thirteen AO/OTA classification 43-C3 type pilon fractures treated between January 2013 and January 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Nine cases were treated by external fixation within 26 hours (range, 6-56 hours) after injury. The definitive open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) was performed after the w...

Consequently, the improvement of the water solubility and dissolution rate of ABZ implies a great challenge for a more efficient treatment of hydatidosis. In this context, SBA-15 and SBA-16 ordered mesoporous si...

ConclusionsCeramic firing affected the marginal gap; however, all Co-Cr frameworks had a marginal gap lower than 120 μm, which is reported to be a clinically acceptable limit. Most of the specimens (80%) had a metal-ceramic bond strength value higher than the 25-MPa ISO 9693 requirement. Five of 28 dental laboratory technicians were not able to comply with ceramic firing instructions.

Therefore, the aqueous extracts made from leaf of Aesculus hippocastanum (horse chestnut) were used as the reducing factors to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and their antioxidant, antibacterial and the application of resveratrol combined AgNPs as efficient delivery vehicles have also been evaluated. The biosynthesized AgNP...

LewisAbstractThe effects of electropulsing on the fatigue resistance of aluminium alloy 2014-T6 were studied in relation to electric current amplitude, pulse duration, and number of repetitions. Utilising the Taguchi method, the present study identified the current amplitude and the duration of the electropulsing as the two critical treatment parameters for improved fatigue resistance. A 97% fatigue life improvement was achieved under the electropulsing conditions that ...

The surface morphology and chemical composition of the obtained multilayers were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The plate ...

In this study, we selectively chlorinated ilmenite using a fluidized bed reactor to analyze the porous structure formed after processing the ilmenite ore. The removal rate of iron oxides in ilmenite increased with reaction time. When the experiment was performed for 40 min, approximately 96.5% of the iron oxides were removed. We analyzed samples subjected to the 40 min reaction to investigate the pore microstructure formed during chlorination. Surface observations using scanning electron microscopy revealed that the surface of the chlorinated ilmenite ore formed a porous structure, which differed from the dense surface...
