Comparison of inhaled 19F C3F8 and hyperpolarized 129Xe lung ventilation MRI

Conclusion: In a pilot study comparing 19F and 129Xe gas ventilation MRI in the lungs of healthy subjects we see qualitative agreement in ventilation patterns with slight differences in the global lung ventilation metric, %VV. Comparisons of the two gas ventilation imaging methods in patients with obstructive airways disease is the next step.
