Small airway dysfunction in asthma: a real life study
Conclusion: In "real life", SAD occurs in the majority of asthmatic patients, with similar proportions across all asthma severities. Airways resistance progressively increases with the worsening of GINA steps. IOS and FEF25-75% correlated only weakly and FEF25-75% does not differ between patients with and without SAD, suggesting that SAD may be overlooked by standard spirometry.
