Adverse effects of chemotherapy in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis with alcohol abuse and without one

Current treatment regimens for the patients with MDR-TB include 5-6 and more drugs. 366 patients with MDR-TB were examined in GRCC "Phthsiatry":203 patients with alcohol abuse - 1-st group and 163 without alcohol abuse - 2-nd group. According to the method of chemotherapy groups didn't differ. Adverse effects (AE) occured in 170 patients (83.7%)in the 1st group, in the 2nd one - 118 (72.4%), the difference was significant, p<0.05. Allergic reactions occured in 13.8% patients (1st group) and 11.9% cases (2nd group), p<0.05. In 145 cases in the 1st group and 99 ones in the 2nd group toxic reactions were noticed (p<0.05). Frequency of moderate or severe AE was 41.9% of the total number of patients in the 1st group, which was significantly higher than in the 2nd group - 28.2%. Index of irremovable AE was higher in the 1st group - 25.8% versus 12.9% in the 2nd group. Hepatotoxic reactions occurred more often in the 1st group - 58 patients (28.6%), while in the 2nd one - only in 24 people (14.7%), p <0.05. Hepatotoxic reactions were manifested most often in the form of significant or moderate increase of liver enzymes (ALT and AST) in blood, less often by increase of the level of bilirubin. There were also icterus of the skin, nausea, general weakness. One man died from severe toxic hepatopankreatitis. Thus, adverse effects are occurred often in patients with MDR -TB, generally in 78.7% of patients. Toxic reactions (predominantly hepatotoxicity) among the alcohol abuser...
