Factors associated with colonization and infection by Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae
Conclusion: In patients colonized or infected by CRE, we identified a high number of ED visits and a high incidence of prior cycles of antibiotic therapy in the previous year, suggesting that these factors may be associated with an increased risk of transmission of these bacteria. These data reinforce the risks associated with the misuse and overuse of antibiotics.
