Effect of continuous positive airway pressure on lipid profile in patients with severe OSAS
Conclusions: Patients with severe OSAS exhibit abnormal lipid levels that improve by CPAP treatment as short as 2 months. It appears that the beneficial effect of CPAP therapy is not transient, 5 years later lipids continue to stay in the normal range. The improvements in lipid profile could be explained by the lack of intermittent hypoxia, a direct result of CPAP therapy.
