Significance of the gross visual appearance of aspirates obtained with endobronchial ultrasound guided-transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA)
Conclusion: The visual appearance of EBUS-TBNA aspirate may provide a clue to the diagnosis. This may prompt the bronchoscopist to obtain samples for ancillary investigations such as Xpert MTB/RIF in cheesy aspirates and avoid further passes from ‘black’ nodes during lung cancer staging.
