Operative morbidity of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in subjects older than age 65
Bariatric surgery represents the gold standard of treatment for sustainable weight loss and reduction of comorbidities in morbidly obese patients. Despite well-documented improvements in medical comorbidities and quality of life (QOL) after bariatric surgery, many doctors refrain from offering bariatric surgery to those older than 65 years because of the fear of complications in this presumably high-risk group.
