A comprehensive appraisal on Crocus chrysanthus (Herb.) Herb. flower extracts with HPLC–MS/MS profiles, antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory properties

In conclusion, C. chrysanthus flowers can be suggested as a source of bioactive components with potential use against chronic disorders caused by oxidative stress. Future in-depth studies are recommended to determine the biological effects of isolated compounds from C. chrysanthus to identify the main compounds modulating the observed activities.

DiscussionHyperchloremic acidosis is associated with a non-anion gap, decrease in plasma bicarbonate and increase in plasma chloride. Rarely, as with this case, it may present with a high-anion gap. The use of bicarbonate therapy has shown improvement in cases of non-anion gap acidosis however there is very little data to support its role in high-anion gap hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis.

Conclusion: Chinese women had a substantially lower risk of venous thromboembolism during pregnancy and the postpartum period compared to that of Caucasians. The occurrence of pregnancy-related venous thromboembolism was largely confined to the early pregnancy period, probably related to the adoption of thromboprophylaxis, a lower rate of Cesarean section, and early mobilization. CONCLUSIONS: Because of its pleiotropic roles in several reproductive events and its association with some life-threatening pathological conditions of pregnancy, bikunin may represent a non-invasive marker for improving follow-up and early diagnosis. Studies showing its usefulness as a drug for reducing the risk of preterm delivery and improving neonatal outcomes have yielded interesting results that deserve to be investigated through further research. Conclusions: The results show that GLP-1 infusion suppresses the postprandial secretion of gastrin in normal subjects and even more so in the diabetes patients. The results may therefore shed further light on the upper gastrointestinal side effects of GLP-1-derived drugs in diabetic patients. PMID: 31725337 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We report a case of a 36-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes mellitus and a one-year of primary infertility. Following oral ovulation induction cycles and IUI, diagnosis of heterotopic cervical pregnancy was made by ultrasonography at 7.4 weeks of gestation. Laser ablation of the cervical pregnancy was performed achieving adequate homeostasis at the implantation site and preserving the intrauterine pregnancy. A healthy infant was delivered at 36 0/7 wks by cesarean-section.Laser ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that appears to lead to successful outcomes in treatment of heterotopic cervical pregnancy.

Authors: Schlesinger A, Weiss A, Nenaydenko O, Koren-Morag N, Adunsky A, Beloosesky Y Abstract BACKGROUND: Statins and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have beneficial effects on health outcomes in the general population. Their effect on survival in debilitated nursing home residents is unknown. OBJECTIVES: To assess the relationships between statins, SSRIs, and survival of nursing home residents. METHODS: Baseline patient characteristics, including chronic medications, were recorded. The association of 5-year survival with different variables was analyzed. A sub-group analysis of survival wa...

ConclusionsThese data challenge the current dogma linking FDG uptake to the glycolytic rate. They instead introduce a new model considering a strict link between the uptake of this glucose analog, H6PD reticular activity and oxidative damage in diabetes, at least under fasting condition.
