Perioperative Care Protocols in Ankle Fracture Treatment: A Review of the Literature

Although ankle fractures are common injuries and often treated with surgery, there are still many unanswered questions with regard to the optimal perioperative protocols for pain control, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis, and rehabilitation. The purpose of this article is to review the best available literature in these areas and provide evidence-based recommendations. Level of Evidence: Diagnostic Level III (therapeutic).
