We describe a case of self-expanding prosthesis embolization and present a solution using a second prosthesis to capture the embolized one.

This summarizes the incidence of septo-octogenarian patients in our robotic mitral experience and provides comparative outcomes to STS predicted models of mortality, stroke, and shortened length of stay, demonstrating that elderly patients ( ≥70 years) matched STS benchmarks and outperforming STS predicted short length of stay in this study population. NYHA = New York Heart Association. PCI = percutaneous coronary intervention. LOS = length of stay. STS = Society of Thoracic Surgeons.Advanced age confers higher STS pre dicted risks of mortality (PROM) and longer hospital lengths of stay (LOS) in patients...

ConclusionsParasternal minimally ‐invasive aortic valve replacement is a feasible technique associated with a slow learning curve but the potential to achieve improved outcomes. Considering the transcatheter alternatives, the relative risk reduction may be worth investigating in future trials.

Typical risk factors include intravenous drug use, immunosuppression, prior cardiac surgery or presence of prosthetic heart valves, hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplantation. Common presentations include signs and symptoms consistent with endocarditis but with negative bacterial blood cultures. Here, we present a case report of a 49-year-old male without known risk factors ...

ConclusionVSRR ensures excellent mid-term aortic valve function independently of its morphology. In B associated with aortic root aneurysm, leaflet repair does not increase the valve-related events.

To assess the impact of stroke volume index (SVI) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) on prognosis in patients with severe aortic stenosis, comparing those undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and those with surgical AVR (SAVR).

lsson M Abstract Timing and indication for pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) in patients with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (rToF) and pulmonary regurgitation (PR) are uncertain. To improve understanding of pumping mechanics, we investigated atrioventricular coupling before and after surgical PVR. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) were performed in patients (n=12) with rToF and PR>35% before and after PVR and in healthy controls (n=15). Atrioventricular plane displacement (AVPD), global longitudinal peak systolic strain (GLS), atrial and ventricular volumes and caval blood flows were analysed. Right ventri...

Owens, Mark S. SpenceAbstractBackgroundTools are needed to identify patients at increased risk after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Indexed stroke volume (SVi) is an echocardiographic measurement that is used for low-gradient aortic stenosis. We studied whether low SVi is a high-risk marker in patients with high-gradient aortic stenosis (HG-AS) and assessed the relationship between SVi and left ventricle (LV) systol...

CONCLUSIONS: Our meta-analysis indicates that, in the short term, TAVI probably has little or no mortality difference compared to SAVR for severe AS in individuals with low surgical risk. Similarly, there is probably little or no difference in risk of stroke, MI, and cardiac death between the two approaches. TAVI may reduce the risk of rehospitalisation, but we are uncertain about the effects on LOS. TAVI reduces the risk of atrial fibrillation, AKI, and bleeding. However, this benefit is offset by the increased risk of PPM implantation. Long-term follow-up data are needed to further assess and validate these outcomes, esp...

ConclusionsSeptal myectomy, performed in a tertiary referral center, had a 30-day mortality rate of 0% and low morbidity rate. There was no difference between observed myectomy mortality and STS Calculator predicted risk for AVR and MV repair. It is possible that a larger sample could reveal lower mortality than STS prediction.

Authors: Gracia E, Wang TY, Callahan S, Bilfinger T, Tannous H, Pyo R, Kort S, Skopicki H, Weinstein J, Patel N, Montellese D, Korlipara G, Khan S, Chikwe J, Parikh PB Abstract BACKGROUND: The association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in the setting of newer-generation transcatheter heart valves (THVs) is not well known. Accordingly, we sought to assess the impact of CKD severity on outcomes in adults undergoing TAVR with newer-generation THVs. METHODS: The study population included 298 consecutive patients who underwent TAVR with a new...
