White matter pathway and individual variability in human stereoacuity

(National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)) Researchers in the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), and Osaka University have identified a human white matter pathway associated with individual variability in human stereoacuity. By combining neuroimaging and psychophysical measurements, we found that the neural tissue density of the white matter pathway, the vertical occipital fasciculus (VOF), correlated with the individual variability in stereoacuity. This finding is important to understand the neural basis of dysfunction in stereopsis.
