Authors: Klein M, Magnan A, Bouchaud G Abstract Severe asthma required high dose of corticosteroids combined with biotherapies to control more or less asthma symptoms and lead to the decrease of patients' quality of life on long term. Recent studies show that hypoallergenic peptides derived from allergen can prevent airway hyperresponsiveness, decrease Th2 response and also allergen-specific IgE in mouse models of allergic asthma. Even if some peptides mechanisms remain unknown, their fast efficacy with low doses of allergens make peptide immunotherapy a new promising approach in allergic asthma. PMID: 31006580...

Conclusion In conclusion, this study wants to stress the importance of early diagnosis. As in the majority of primary immunodeficiency diseases, the prognosis of LAD3 is extremely dependent on early age diagnosis, with timely management of bacterial infections and consideration for HSCT. In addition, this autosomal recessive disorder has high incidence in areas with high rate of consanguineous marriages. Therefore, broadening the spectrum of known mutations underlying the phenotype of such a life-threatening disease can help offering and performing better genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between malar rash and airway inflammation in adult SLE patients who were not known to have any lung involvement (clinical or radiologic). The study comprised of the measurement of the concentration of NO in exhaled breath or fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) and levels were compared between those with and without malar rash. This tool is considered as a sensitive and non-invasive method that is routinely used in patients with asthma or other respiratory diseases to identify airway inflammation.ResultsA total of 125 patients (100 females, 25 males) were enrolled during...

Conclusions World population is aging and the increase in life expectancy is often unhealthy. In particular, musculoskeletal aging, which leads to sarcopenia and osteoporosis, has several causes such as changes in body composition, inflammation, and hormonal imbalance. Sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and more frequently, sarcopenic obesity are commonly associated with aging and frequently closely linked each other, often leading to the development of a frailty syndrome. Frailty syndrome favors an increased risk of loss function in daily activities, for cardiovascular diseases, cancers, falls, and mortality. As the number of eld...

CONCLUSIONS: Healthcare providers often discuss asthma control indicators with patients. Children and some racial and ethnic minorities were more frequently assessed on key asthma control indicators compared to adults and non-Hispanic whites, respectively. These findings may reflect provider efforts to target asthma control communications to populations with higher risk of morbidity. PMID: 31007107 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
