Both therapy concepts can cause neurological symptoms or white matter alterations can occur, which can be classified into acute, subacute and chronic. Both symptoms and white matter alterations during acute and subacute phases are in most cases completely reversible, whereas chronic white matter alterations can lead to severe neurological limitations and further impair the quality of life of cancer patients.
