Low omega-3 index and polyunsaturated fatty acid status in patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) is a complex and extremely debilitating chronic medical condition [1]. Its etiology remains unknown. No clinically established diagnostic tests exist; nor are any effective FDA-approved drugs available for treatment currently. Its symptoms are persistent disabling fatigue for more than six months and a constellation of symptoms such as multi-joint pain, myalgia, unrefreshing sleep, impaired memory and/or concentration, new headaches, anxiety/depression, autonomic dysfunction and post-exertional malaise that does not improve with rest.
