This study focused on previously reported Icelandic Huperzia selago genotypes, and aimed to evaluate the chemotaxonomic value of LAs in resolving them. Using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), alkaloid fingerprints of H. selago taxa were subjected to principal component analysis (PCA). Our results revealed that each genotype tends to have its own alkaloid profile. Genotype 1 and 3 form distinct groups in a PCA plot, where genotype 2 is an intermediate between the other two genotypes. CONCLUSIONS: Indeed, bacteria have been shown to affect neurodegeneration by promoting inflammation, inducing molecular mimicry mechanisms and accumulation of Aβ into the brain. These findings open the way for H. pylori eradicating trials and/or GUT microbiota remodulating strategies. In this study, scientists screened cells from old animals to identify any RBPs that change upon aging. The screening showed that one particular protein, Pumilio2 (PUM2), was highly induced in old animals. PUM2 binds mRNA molecules containing specific recognition sites. CONCLUSION: Apathy, but not depression, was significantly associated with worse function, with the strongest effects in mild dementia.
