Siemens wins FDA nod for Cios Spin mobile 3D C-arm

Siemens (NYSE:SI) Healthineers said today that it won FDA clearance for its Cios Spin mobile C-arm device for intraoperative 3D imaging. The newly cleared Cios Spin produces 3D computed tomography-like imaging for orthopedic, trauma and spinal surgery that Siemens claims can reduce the rate of revisions and need for post-operative CT. The Cios Spin supports both 2D and 3D imaging and can be used for a variety of procedures, including vascular imaging, Siemens said. The system also features NaviLink 3D digital navigation and flat panel detector technology and other software packages. “Siemens Healthineers is proud to offer the Cios Spin, a dynamic new mobile 3D C-arm that illustrates our expertise in mobile X-ray imaging. This system will help our customers improve the quality of patient care using precision medicine as well as reduce the additional costs imposed by revision surgery,” Siemens Healthineers NA surgical solutions VP Robert Dewey said in a press release. Last month, Siemens Healthineers said that it inked a deal with looking to improve home chronic kidney disease monitoring. AbstractRenal osteodystrophy (ROD) is a metabolic skeletal pathology that frequently affects the orofacial region and presents with characteristic radiological manifestations. This paper reports a case of ROD causing diffused orofacial bone alterations in a female patient with end-stage chronic kidney disease. The radiological features on panoramic, posteroanterior and lateral skull and computed tomography radiographs are described for this case. Previous reports in the literature are reviewed and discussed with a focus on radiological characteristics and differential diagnoses.

Conclusions- The observed changes in lymph flow suggest that the lymphatics may influence long-term regulation of tissue fluid balance during salt accumulation by contributing to fluid homeostasis in skin and muscle. We report a case of PLSVC in a patient with chronic kidney disease which was identified following a difficult catheterization into the right internal jugular vein (IJV). The catheterization was attempted through the left IJV and the position of which could not be confirmed with check radiograph and two-dimensional echo. PLSVC was suspected in the computed tomography angiography and was confirmed following digital subtraction angiography.
