Abstract Nearly 1 million people become infected every day with any of the four major curable sexually transmitted infections (STIs), namely trichomoniasis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Despite huge global incidence, STIs remain as neglected diseases. The success of antiretrovirals for halting progression to AIDS in HIV-infected individuals and for stopping HIV transmission to uninfected contacts, either as pre- or post-exposure -prophylaxis, has to lead to increased risky sexual behaviors through risk compensation. Recent epidemics and outbreaks of STIs among men having sex with men reflect the global loss...

This study aimed to present six clinical cases with the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, but in which different treatment approaches were required. This demonstrates the dynamic and unique character of the disease in each individual. That is, the behavior of sexually transmitted infections will vary not only according to its causative microorganism (virus or bacteria), but also according to the characteristics of the combination of etiologic agent and host.ResumoAs infecções sexualmente transmissíveis são causadas, principalmente, por vírus e bactérias. Por meio do con...

The clinical manifestations are similar to those seen in gonococcal urethritis. Eradication of infection must be confirmed due to the high rate of antibiotic resistance associated with Haemophilus species.ResumenIntroducciónLa incidencia de uretritis por Haemophilus está aumentando. Nuestro objetivo principal es describir las características clínico-microbiológicas de estos pacientes. Como objetivo secundario d...

Clinicians working with individuals with PTSD symptoms, particularly those who have been exposed to interpersonal trauma, should screen for the presence of these sequelae.
