Bariatric Surgery Reduces The Incidence of Atrial Fibrillation: A Propensity Score Matched Analysis
Background: Obesity is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). Bariatric surgery results in a high rate of long-term weight loss and is associated with amelioration of several chronic comorbidities. We hypothesize weight reduction with bariatric surgery will reduce the long-term incidence of AF.
